List Building Guidelines That Get Sustained Subscribers
Subject Line
One of the most significant thing is the subject line so what I’m gonna do is guide you through an e-mail sequence that’s receiving a 100% open rate and you can understand why this is happening.
To start with in our headline is Freedom Ocean. We’re showing people what they’ve signed up for. Once they see Freedom Ocean in their inbox, they know exactly what it is so we’ll always codify the email by positioning it in brackets. Then there’s a specific note about what this e-mail is. If we would lineup the emails within the inbox it would have the identical codec in the front and then it would say, ‘episode 1, episode 2, episode 3…” and so on. ‘Episode 6 + transcript is ready…’ Now the transcript is the reason why we believe they’re opening the email.
Sender
Something that many people overlook is the sender. The sender is crucial. In this case it’s James and Tim and people know that this podcast is James Schramko and Tim Reid so that’s really good. Some nondescript email sender like support@ or info@ you’ll likely to get that filtered out.
Preview Line
The next step that I’m sure many people forget about is a preview line. This is what shows within the inbox just before people open it so be sure you present this some heavy consideration. We are saying ‘Welcome to the Freedom Ocean’ and then we put a social proof line ‘The # 1 business podcast in the Australian iTunes store as this email goes out.’ That’s just showing people that it is a productive podcast plus they actually created the success because they’re the listeners. It’s the readers that created the accomplishment.
Then we provide the first link ‘Go to Episode 6’. We’d like people to click that so we actually have a call to action, ‘Go to Episode 6’ it’s clear, it’s glowing blue, it’s bold and it is underlined.
Text Wrap
And what we do is we text wrap, you don’t want to have your text running over the page. You need to keep it nice and chunked because it’s easy to see. In fact in SuperFastResults we have a tool called the text wrapper that allows you to text wrap your words to whatever you specify. It’s reallyvery, simple to use this.
